Recommended Letter to The League of American Bicyclist.

If you are on this page, then you are seeking advice on what to write to the League of American Bicyclist.  Please include your experience and ask why are we a bicycle friendly city when the city continues to remove need bicycle lanes down the busiest streets.  Below is a rough draft of what I wrote to The League myself

Subject: San Antonio's Bicycle Friendly Status

Content:
To Whom it May Concern,

My name is (insert name) and I regularly commute by bicycle in San Antonio.

How are we a bicycle Friendly City?  I'm asking because since your designation of Bronze Status for my city, The City has removed a needed bicycle lane down two major streets.  They also continue to not put down any new bicycle lanes except where they don't serve a purpose.  And the lanes they do put in are filled with parked cars.

We do have miles and miles of hike and bike trails in San Antonio, but it is against the law (insert section) to use them after dark.  I have personally been told to get off of those trails by Park Police and some of my friends have gotten tickets.  Sec. 22-28. Public parks hours of operation and curfew

In the end, the City of San Antonio uses your status as a crutch not to do anything at all except tell people to wear their helmets and have lights.  Those things don't mean that a car, in which the driver is texting is going to see me.

I urge that the League of American Bicyclist remove the Friendly status for San Antonio so our city government can actually build San Antonio to be Bicycle Friendly because right now, they don't build anything decent want to build a network.  And what they have built, cars use them for on street parking spaces.

Sincerely,
(Insert Name)
